Fulbourn's older chalk-built and brick cottages, many predating the twentieth century, rely on properly installed lead to keep water out of chimney stacks and abutments.
The village has a good number of period properties on Apthorpe Street and around the High Street, plus newer housing on the edges towards the Fulbourn nature reserve. On the older stock especially, original lead flashings can be well over fifty years old — brittle, cracked at the stepped joints, or simply lifted by thermal movement. When lead fails here, damp follows quickly into lime-plastered walls that can be expensive to repair.
We survey lead details at no charge, replace step and cover flashings to BS EN 12588 specification, and use Code 4 or Code 5 lead appropriate to each application. Call us to arrange a free Fulbourn roof survey.
